Join us over Zoom on Wednesday, July 26, for a livestream conversation and Q&A with Spring 2023 guest designer Shirin Neshat.
Shirin is an Iranian-born artist and filmmaker living in New York who imbues her works with poetic and politically charged images and narratives that question issues of power, religion, race, gender, and the relationships between the past and present, occident and orient, and individual and collective, through the lens of her personal experiences as an Iranian woman living in exile. She has directed three feature-length films: Women Without Men (2009), which received the Silver Lion Award for Best Director at the 66th Venice International Film Festival; Looking for Oum Kulthum (2017); and Land of Dreams (2021), which premiered at the Venice film festival. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions around the world, and her honors include the Golden Lion Award-First International Prize at the Venice Biennale (1999), the Hiroshima Freedom Prize (2005), the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize (2006), and the Japan Art Association’s Praemium Imperiale Award (2017).
The event is FREE and will take place at noon PST / 3 p.m. EST on July 26. Register here. To submit questions for Shirin, email us at info@all-story.com. We hope you can join us!
